Main Ingredients
  • 1/2 lb chicken breast (cut into cubes) Juicy and tender, the chicken serves as the star of this dish.
  • 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch This creates a delightful coating on the chicken.
  • 1 pinch salt Enhances the overall flavor.
  • 1/2 lb broccoli florets Adds fresh crunch and essential nutrients.
  • 2 tablespoons oil Used for stir-frying.
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced) Adds depth to the dish.
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce Provides a rich, savory umami flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce Adds a hint of sweetness and complexity.
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil Enhances the dish’s aroma.
  • 1 teaspoon sugar Balances the savory flavors.
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch Helps to thicken the sauce.
  • 1/2 cup water Essential for creating the sauce.
  • 3 dashes ground white pepper Adds a slightly spicy note.

Method

Preparation
  1. Marinate the chicken in cornstarch and a pinch of salt. If it appears too dry, add a splash of water to get a nice coating.
  2. In a pot, bring water to a boil, toss in the broccoli florets, and cook for just one minute. Drain and set aside.
Cooking
  1. Place your wok or large skillet on high heat and add the oil. Allow it to heat until shimmering.
  2. Add the minced garlic and stir-fry until aromatic and lightly browned.
  3. Quickly add the marinated chicken to the wok and stir-fry until browned and cooked through.
  4. Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and water to the chicken in the wok. Reduce heat to low.
  5. Incorporate the previously cooked broccoli and stir everything together.
  6. Dish out the Chicken Broccoli immediately while it’s hot and fresh.

Notes

For extra crunch, sauté the broccoli briefly in the wok after boiling. Adjust the soy sauce and sugar to taste. For spice, consider adding red pepper flakes or sliced chili peppers during stir-frying.
