Ingredients

For the Chicken Marinade
  • 6 pieces bone-in chicken thighs These succulent pieces of chicken are perfect for grilling.
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder Adds a warm, savory depth.
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder Provides a touch of sweetness.
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika Imparts a smoky flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt Essential for flavor enhancement.
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper Adds a hint of heat.
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce Star ingredient, tangy and sweet.

Method

Marinate the Chicken
  1. Place the chicken thighs into a large bowl and sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, kosher salt, and black pepper over them. Toss to coat evenly, cover, and let marinate in the fridge for 2 hours.
Preheat the Grill
  1. Preheat your grill to medium heat and oil the grates to prevent sticking. Lay the chicken thighs down, skin side facing down, and grill for about 7 minutes.
Flip and Sauce
  1. After 7 minutes, flip the chicken thighs and cook for an additional 3 minutes. Brush a layer of barbecue sauce on the side facing up and cook for another 3 minutes.
Add More Sauce
  1. Flip the chicken again, brush with more barbecue sauce, and let cook for 2 minutes. Then, flip once more to skin side up and apply a light coat of barbecue sauce.
Cook to Perfection
  1. Continue grilling until the chicken thighs reach an internal temperature of 165°F, approximately 20 minutes in total. Serve immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider letting the chicken marinate overnight. Use a meat thermometer to ensure proper doneness.
