Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C or gas mark 4). Butter a 10-inch deep pie dish or a 1.5-liter (1.5 quart) baking dish.
- Open the can of cinnamon rolls and cut them into 1-inch pieces. Place the pieces evenly into the prepared pie dish.
- Drizzle the melted butter over the cinnamon roll pieces.
- Sprinkle half of the ground cinnamon and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar over the cinnamon rolls.
- Spoon half of the apple pie filling over the cinnamon roll pieces, chopping larger apple pieces as necessary and gently mixing.
- Sprinkle the remaining tablespoon of brown sugar over this layer.
- Spread the rest of the apple pie filling evenly over the top.
- Sprinkle the last tablespoon of brown sugar and the remaining ground cinnamon on top.
Baking
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, monitoring until pie filling is bubbling and edges are golden brown.
- Remove from oven and slightly warm the icing that came with the cinnamon rolls, then drizzle over the baked dish.
Serving
- Serve warm directly from the dish, optionally topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Add a pinch of nutmeg or vanilla extract to the apple filling for extra flavor. You can also mix in chopped nuts or swap the apple filling for other fruit fillings.
