  2. Spread the diced bread on a dry sheet pan, and bake for 10-15 minutes until slightly golden and dried out.
  3. In a large stock pot, add 2 tablespoons of butter and sauté the small diced celery and onions with 1/2 teaspoon of salt for about 5-7 minutes until they begin to soften.

  6. Introduce the heavy cream into the mixture, folding in gently, then mix in the eggs, quartered chestnuts, chopped herbs, and remaining salt.
  7. Spray a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray, then pour the stuffing mixture into the dish and place a few pats of butter on top.
Baking
  1. Bake the dish in the oven for 45-55 minutes until golden brown on top and no longer jiggles in the center.
  2. Let the stuffing cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For best flavor, consider using a combination of fresh herbs. You can add sautéed mushrooms for an earthy twist or dried cranberries for a hint of sweetness. Adjust the salt according to your preference. For a crunchier texture, toast the bread a little longer.
