Ingredients

Dough and crust preparation
  • 0.5 recipe homemade pizza dough Or use 1 pound of store-bought pizza dough.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For greasing and enhancing flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon cornmeal To sprinkle on the pan for crunch.
Filling and toppings
  • 7 strings string cheese For the cheesy stuffed crust.
  • 0.5 cup pizza sauce Use homemade or store-bought.
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese For topping the pizza.
  • 1 handful pepperoni Optional chosen topping.
  • To taste dried herbs (basil, oregano) For extra flavor.

Method

Prepare the Dough
  1. If using homemade dough, complete it through step 3. For store-bought frozen dough, ensure it’s fully thawed.
  2. Preheat your oven to 475°F (246°C).
  3. Lightly grease a large baking sheet or pizza pan with half a tablespoon of olive oil, and sprinkle cornmeal onto the pan.
Shaping the Dough
  1. Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release any trapped air.
  2. Divide the dough in half, freezing half for a future pizza night.
  3. Flatten the dough into a disc and transfer it to the prepared pan.
  4. Create a lip around the edge by lifting and pinching the dough.
Adding the Cheese
  1. Arrange string cheese around the circumference of the crust, leaving about a ¾ inch gap.
  2. Fold the dough edges over the cheese, sealing it well.
Topping the Pizza
  1. Press dents into the dough surface to prevent bubbling.
  2. Brush the remaining olive oil over the crust, followed by pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella, and any chosen toppings.
  3. Sprinkle with dried herbs if desired.
Baking
  1. Place the pizza in the oven and bake for 14-16 minutes until the crust is golden brown.
  2. Slice the hot pizza and serve immediately.

Notes

Experiment with different cheeses for the filling. For a crispier crust, par-bake for a couple of minutes before adding toppings. Allow the topped pizza to rest before slicing.
