For the Glaze
  • 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter Base for our glossy and rich maple glaze.
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup The star ingredient providing maple flavor.
  • 1 cup sifted confectioners’ sugar Essential for a sweet, smooth glaze.
  • 1/4 teaspoon maple extract (optional) Intensifies the maple flavor.
  • 1 pinch salt, to taste Balances and elevates sweetness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and spray your donut pan with non-stick spray.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the melted butter, egg, brown sugar, milk, yogurt, and vanilla until fully combined.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix; the batter should be thick and lumpy.
  5. Spoon the batter into the donut pan cavities, filling them about halfway. If you only have one pan, leave remaining batter at room temperature.
Baking
  1. Bake the donuts for 10-11 minutes until edges and tops are lightly browned. Test doneness by poking with a finger; if it springs back, they're ready.
  2. Let the donuts cool for a few minutes in the pan before transferring them to a wire rack on parchment paper.
Making the Glaze
  1. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and maple syrup together, whisking occasionally.
  2. Remove from heat, whisk in the sifted sugar and maple extract. Adjust salt to taste.
  3. Let it cool for 2-3 minutes before dipping each donut into the glaze. Dip as desired and place back on the cooling rack.
Serving
  1. Serve donuts immediately for best experience or store leftovers in a tightly sealed container.

Notes

Ensure proper flour measurement for density. Add chocolate chips or nuts for flavor variations. Dust with powdered sugar instead of glaze for a different texture.
