Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 5 cups apples, peeled, cored, and chopped Choose juicy varieties such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
  • 5.5 cups sugar Adjust the sweetness based on the tartness of your apples.
  • 1 pouch fruit pectin Essential for thickening the jam.
  • 1.5 cups water Used to extract juices from the apples.
Spices
  • 2 tsp cinnamon Adds warmth and depth to the flavor.
  • 1 tsp ground cloves Elevates the jam with its fragrant notes.
  • 0.5 tsp nutmeg Introduces a sweet and nutty flavor.
  • 0.5 tsp allspice Brings a hint of pie-like complexity.

Method

Preparation
  1. Peel, core, and chop the apples into small pieces and place them in a pressure cooker or heavy-bottomed pot with 1 cup of water.
  2. Cook the apples until tender, about 10-15 minutes on the stovetop or less in the pressure cooker.
Combine Ingredients
  1. Transfer the cooked apples into a heavy-bottomed stock pot and gradually stir in the fruit pectin.
  2. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over high heat while stirring constantly.
Add Sweetness and Spice
  1. Once boiling, add the sugar all at once and stir to dissolve completely.
  2. Sprinkle in the cinnamon, ground cloves, nutmeg, and allspice, then return to a rolling boil for 1 minute.
Ladle the Jam
  1. Remove the pot from heat and ladle the hot jam into sterilized containers, leaving space at the top.
  2. Let the jam sit undisturbed for about 12 hours to set.
  3. If it hasn't set after 12 hours, give it another 12 hours, then refrigerate for long-term storage.
Canning Option
  1. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions on sealing the jars for canning.

Notes

Store in a tightly sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to a month. For long-term storage, consider canning or freezing it. Adjust spice levels to taste.
